SALES POLICY

Thank you for your interest in Dragon Hollow Farm’s (“DHF”) goats. We are always looking for the best possible fit, not just for our goats, but also for your family. As such, we reserve the right to sell or not sell any of our animals to any person for any reason, or no reason at all. We also reserve the right to cancel any deposit for any reason or no reason at all.

Health

We WILL NOT sell a single goat to a home that does not have other goats. Goats are herd animals and need company for their well-being. They need at least one other goat of the similar age, size and sex. This means you would need to have at least two boys and two girls, if you wished to keep both sexes, as they are generally kept separate except in times of breeding. We prefer to sell kids in pairs, since their transition will be the least stressful this way.

We also require safe and secure housing and fencing to protect them from the elements and predators (and yes, your neighbor’s dog is a predator). Goats do not like to get wet, so protection from the weather is also very important for them.

Additionally, a potential buyer must prove that they maintain a valid VCPR (Veterinary Client Patient Relationship) with a licensed veterinary professional that works with goats before delivery of our goat(s). If you do not currently have a veterinarian, the time to find one is BEFORE you have an emergency. Veterinarians that work with goats can be few and far between and it can be difficult to find one locally. If you reside in close proximity to our farm, we are happy to make recommendations.

All animals sold by DHF are healthy to the best of our knowledge at the time of transfer. Buyers are encouraged to perform their own pre-purchase inspection and/or request a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (“CVI”). At a minimum, a CVI is required for transport across state lines. Some states also require additional testing. For example, South Carolina requires that all goats coming into the state be Tuberculosis tested within thirty (30) days prior to entry. The CVI and any additional testing will be performed by DHF’s licensed veterinarians, however, the cost of such will be passed along to the buyer.

The buyer is strongly encouraged to have the goat examined by a licensed veterinarian within five (5) days of delivery of that animal. If a pre-existing, life-threatening condition is diagnosed by the veterinarian within that five (5) day period, the buyer must notify the DHF in writing and provide a copy of the veterinary report. DHF reserves the right to request a second veterinary opinion before determining next steps. Any genetic abnormalities must be reported to DHF prior to the goat reaching two (2) years old. Again, genetic abnormalities must be diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and the written report must be submitted to DHF.

If a goat is found to have a verified pre-existing or genetic condition, as outlined above, DFH will, at their discretion either:

•Replace the animal with one of comparable value, or

•Refund the purchase price (excluding transport and veterinary costs).

There will be no replacement or refund if notification is outside the limits set forth above.

Once the animal leaves our property, we cannot assume responsibility for its health, wellbeing, or any medical conditions that may arise, as we cannot control management practices, environment, nutrition, stress, or exposure to illness after the sale. There will be no replacement or refund for anything outside of what is outlined above; including but not exclusive to: illness, injury or death that results from improper care, diet, housing or handling; common management-related issues such as parasites, coccidiosis, respiratory infections or pneumonia or other stress-related illnesses; fertility issues or milk production matters.

Limitation of Liability

Buyer agrees that DHF’s total liability for any claim, loss, damage, or dispute arising out of the purchase, condition, health, genetics, or subsequent use or ownership of the goat shall be strictly limited to the original purchase price of the goat. Buyer understands and agrees that no other damages of any kind, including but not limited to, veterinary expenses, consequential damages, incidental damages, emotional distress, lost profits, or any form of compensatory, punitive, or special damages, shall be available or awarded under any circumstances.

Buyer acknowledges that by completing the purchase, they fully accept this limitation of liability as a binding term of the sale.

Reservations

We receive numerous inquiries on our goats. Unfortunately, simply inquiring about one of our goats does not secure them for you. The first person to place a full deposit secures the goat. Deposits are generally non-refundable, unless we are unable to provide the desired goat to you, in which case the deposit will be fully refunded, or transferred to another goat, as you prefer. Deposits cannot be transferred from one goat to another without advance approval from DHF.

Deposits

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total must be made in order to hold any goat. Deposits are applied to the final purchase price. The deposit is only refundable if DHF cancels the contract for any reason or cannot provide your chosen goat.

Deposits can be made by the following payment options:

•Cash (in person at the farm);

•Credit card or ACH (We will send you an invoice to pay online) or

•Venmo.

We do not accept personal checks.

All animals must be paid in full, including any outstanding board, veterinary costs or transport costs, before leaving our premises. If the buyer is picking the goat up at our farm, cash; credit card; ACH or Venmo are all acceptable forms of payment. If we are transporting the animal to you, all balances must be paid either via credit card; ACH or Venmo prior to us loading the animal for delivery.

Buyers are expected to pick-up or arrange to have their animal(s) delivered within 2 weeks of the deposit being made (unless other advance accommodations have been pre-arranged and agreed to by DHF).

If the animal is not pickup up within two (2) weeks of the deposit being made, the buyer will be responsible to pay boarding in the amount of $10.00 per day. That amount will be added to the balance due before the goat can be released. If the goat is not picked up within one (1) month of the deposit being made (unless other advance accommodations have been pre-arranged and agreed to by DHF), the deposit will be forfeited and the goat will be placed back up for sale.

Transportation

On farm pick up is always welcome. Please be prepared with a safe, secure method of transportation in the form of either a large size hard-sided dog kennel with shavings on the bottom for comfort and to absorb urine in vehicles, or an appropriate livestock specific trailer. Utility trailers are not appropriate for animals as they do not provide adequate ventilation. We do NOT work with outside transportation companies, but do offer transportation from our farm to all 48 contiguous United States (for an additional fee of $25.00/hour; $0.70/mile and $50.00 per overnight stay). Total will be computed and approved by customer prior to transport being scheduled.

Temperament

We do our best to raise friendly, well-adjusted goats and to the best of our ability, advise prospective buyer of the personality traits of each animal. Once the animal leaves our farm, however, we have no control over how they are treated or handled. As such, we are not responsible for any human, animal, or property injuries or damage that are caused directly or indirectly by goats purchased from us. We are also not responsible for a buyer's dissatisfaction with a goat's personality or behavior and as such, no refunds or replacements will be provided for these reasons.

Keeping in Touch

We love to keep in touch with our buyers. It gives us great joy to see what our goats have done in the show ring and in the milk pail. Your veterinarian should always be your first call if a problem should arise, but if there is ever anything we can be of assistance with, we hope that you will reach out, whether it is specific to one of our animals or with goats in general.

Additionally, if you ever are unable to keep one of our animals for any reason, we ask that you kindly give us the first chance to buy the animal back. We cannot promise we will always be in a position to do so, but we welcome having the conversation with you.
